Folks,

We’ve transitioned to a new blog on it’s own domain. We are now located at digphotobyfrankblog.com.

We are very excited about the move and the new direction we’re heading in and hope you will come visit us in our new home.

Thanks for following us and we hope to see you at our new home.

Frank

Folks,

We are very excited to announce that we have begun to migrate to our own hosting of WordPress under a new URL. As promised earlier, this site is going black. We will no longer be updating this site during this blackout period and will have one final update announcing when the new blog location is ready for business before closing this site down permanently.

The new site will migrate many of the posts this site contains and will continue to provide photographic industry news and updates. In addition, the new blog will serve to showcase our client shoots and will be our vehicle for promotional events and activities.

We thank you for your support of our business and look forward to seeing you at our new home.

Thank you.

Pocket Wizard is giving away free shields for their Flex TT5 transceivers that improve Canon flash reception. Here is the link to request your shields.

The shields are supposed to “dramatically” improve the performance of the Flex TT5 when used with Canon 430EX, 580EX, and 580EX II Speedlites. Apparently radio interference is a problem. I’ve not used my Pocket Wizards outside my studio yet so cannot say if my 550EX and 430EZ would also benefit from the shields.

Here is what the lovely critters look like:
Pocket Wizard AC5 soft sleeve

Oh yeah baby, sexy!

If you’re inclined to pay for a shield, you can order one that is made of hard plastic and has 2, count ‘em 2, mounting points for vertical or horizontal flashing. This open-ended bathtub for your flash can be read about and objectified here but in case you can’t wait for the jump, hear ya go:

With either of these accessories your Pocket Wizard will be the talk of the town and the envy of it’s peers.

Enjoy.

Here is a photo I took of Marie today. Every shot I take is candid; I rarely pose people. This shot was so perfect to me (as perfect as she is) that I just had to share it. Shot in studio with some PP applied in Lightroom.

Enjoy.

Here are some pics of the pumpkin carving we did after visiting the pumpkin patch. You can see the entire set of pics on my Flickr site.

Emily watched everyone carve pumpkins and even helped a bit. She then turned her attention to the freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies her grandmother made.

Everyone carved and had a good time. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Fall is my favorite time of year when we start saying goodbye to the oppressive heat and start welcoming in cooler temperatures and shorter days. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because everyone likes to be scared a bit.

In a place like North Texas where there are lots of young couples with little kids, opening the door to see ghouls and goblins barely able to walk is very heartwarming.

Even us grandparents get into the act a bit going pumpkin picking and doing a little carving with the tots. It’s fun and when your daughters help you carve, it’s pretty special too.

Here are some pics I took of yesterday’s pumpkin picking with Emily. She kept going from pumpkin to pumpkin labeling them hers. She was very fond of the smaller variety and in the end settled on a pair while Angela picked one that was almost as big as she was.

You can see the entire set here on my Flickr site. I will post another blog entry on the carving of the pumpkins.

I hope you enjoy these pics and I hope you have a great and scary Halloween. Boo. :-)

“Suddenly suburbia took off at light speed.”

A bit of fun with lens zoom and my favorite trees.

Enjoy

Folks, our website re-design is complete and the site is now live with the new layout. It took a little longer than anticipated but in the end we are happy with the results.

Thanks go out to Adriana Mullen for providing suggestions and clearing some cobwebs for us. Invaluable feedback and encouragement. Everyone starting out needs an Adriana. Likewise, thanks go out to my friend Jim for his dogged persistence with details and providing alternate views. And most important of all, thanks go out to my wife Marie who believes in me and our ability to do great things. Love you honey.

The next stop on this train will be to re-design and re-purpose this blog into a strong vehicle for marketing and information. In the next few days we will go black in order to work to produce as good a blog as our new website.

Thanks for the continued support.

A view of the Downtown Plano DART station. Dallas Area Rapid Transit is the light rail system in place in North Texas that is as close to a subway or El as this place will ever get.
